hands

stained, callused, work worn hands
staring straight back at me
these could change my destiny
the define position
create first impressions
tell who i am,
before i speak
shifting gears, turning wheels
they take me places

clean, smooth, slender hands
reaching out straight at me
these could change my destiny
they define passion
promote gentleness and grace
improve who i am
shifting gears, turning years
they give me foundation

I love how you can make stanzas similar and repetitious and yet still so powerful by themselves.

and yet I'm still stuck with stuff like:
roses are red
violets are blue
poems are pointless (not really)
shoe

So can the girls that you were having coffee with claim to be the inspiratory hands for the second stanza? That way when you are famous we can tell people!
